Brokecoin: The Humble Beginnings

Brokecoin is a meme-utility project uniting Web2 and Web3 through gaming, NFTs, traditional services and more, founded by a degen turned builder who went “broke” but kept building. What is Brokecoin and how did it begin? Why was Brokecoin created? What makes Brokecoin different? Short answer, to meme about being Broke in this economy! Long answer? Read on!

What is Brokecoin?

Well, simply put, Brokecoin is a meme-utility project, that was created in December of 2024 and has the intention to become an ecosystem of value in Web2 & Web3. We intend to capture the best of what Web3 has to offer, such as gaming, NFTs, music, and utilities such as market making bots and launchpads, among many others. We intend to combine that ecosystem whilst onboarding individuals from Web2, and thus combine both worlds, while creating value for all.

Why was Brokecoin created and what makes it different?

I, Daniel Cooper, have been in crypto for the better part of a decade, always as a community member and never as a developer, moderator, or project lead. I've also had my share of wins and losses. Such as being a part of Shiba Inu and Saitama Inu in 2021; I made out like a bandit in those days.

Likewise, I've experienced countless rug-pulls, and have had the displeasure of meeting Devs (developers) who were not transparent, couldn't care less about the community, and simply put, wanted the community to buy the tokens and "diamond hand" while being silent.

As a community member, I've often had to join the many voices, begging for information, dates, times, updates and more, and pretty much every time, we, the community, have received half-baked answers from the mods, or have been met with silence.

I have always wanted to be a part of a project early, feel valued, and feel comfortable and connected to the project and the development team. That is the most politically correct answer.

Now for the meme answers, and feel free to laugh, if you find it funny.

1.) My family always said, you'll go "Broke" with that magic internet money cause crypto isn't real. You can either go "Broke" or buy "substances" with crypto. Which to an extent, I guess they were right... But there's always that "chance" that we degens (degenerates) chase, to potentially get into the "right" project and turn $50 into $1 million dollars.

2.) After going into the crypto rabbit hole over the years, I had the bright idea, to go "Broke" even faster, and that is with the magic "L" word.... Leverage. If you aren't trading leverage with a 10x minimum, are you even trading?

(Not Financial Advice, I was, and am a degen. Don't do this.)

Well, I decided, that since I've lost money before, I'll get a job and make it back. And I've had some wins, here and there. That's when I learned, crypto will climb the ladder up, and take the free-fall elevator down. But, in December, I was swinging XRP leverage with a lovely 15x leverage, cause, if you aren't trading with 10x minimum, are you even trading?

(Not Financial Advice. Don't go "Broke" with leverage, I was and am a degen. Don't do this.)

I had managed to swing XRP in and out, for gains, from $0.88 to $2.70+, and while setting stop-losses, I was only winning! - I bet you can guess what happens next...

(Not Financial Advice. Don't trade with leverage, and wake up with a 0 account, thinking it's a mistake, but you really just got liquidated. I was and am a degen. Don't do this.)

If you guessed that I removed the stop-loss a few hours before the South Korean president, Yoon Suk-Yeol, declared martial law, and didn't receive any notifications from my exchange, as the crypto market rugged... and XRP dropped from $2.70 to like $2.10, and my portfolio was on fire, then congratulations, you are 100% correct!

So... I went "Broke." I was sure of a rebound, that wasn't really rebounding... and at the end of trying to re-make (gamble), or rather, revenge trade leverage, to get back up to my $30,000 (profit I lost), I ended up with roughly $5,000 remaining. And that, is when I decided, that I had enough of crypto.

BUT, to not be a player, when the market is still bullish, would have crushed me, I haven't gone Broke enough yet. So, after pondering, researching, and learning about Pumpfun, I figured a traditional launch would better suit me, I decided to take a chance on myself, and add my spin on all that I've seen in crypto over the decade.

I figured, to pay homage to my family, and their visionary prophecy of going "Broke" in crypto, as well as XRP + South Korea, literally making me "Broke" and... inflation in New York City, where a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich with salt, pepper & ketchup, that used to be $2 at a deli, 15 years ago..... is now, $7.50! FOR A BREAKFAST SANDWICH, or, $10, FOR A BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE. Everywhere I turned, nothing but the thought of going "Broke" was present, so a "Brokecoin" seemed fitting! Because... this economy, am I right?

And thus, December 21st, of 2024, Brokecoin was born!

Long read huh, but, there's one more point to address.

What makes us different?

Maybe I could say, the fact that I'm crazy enough to try and build the next Bonk, or the fact that everyone is "Broke," including me, so we're all kindred spirits, the "Broke folks, and the former rug-pulled," would be differentiator. But, if I was to give you a politically correct answer, I'd say, that Brokecoin and by extension, me, focuses on being the type of project, with a developer that is honorable and not screw people over, while creating value.

I want to be the type of developer who is transparent when things were going wrong, one who tells the community how things are progressing, so the community isn't in the dark. The type of dev, who isn't "business as usual."

There are projects that are impressive, and the average retail investor, has 0 clue, what, or how, the utilities work. Most people may not know what a Layer 1 or 2 is, or what a rollup is, or what bridges are and how they work. At least, retail, in my opinion. So we decided to create memes + utilities, because utilities don't need to be boring where only a select few know what's going on. A utility can be fun, while being meme-able.

Anyway, I'm done boring you for now! Welcome to Brokecoin, and accept that I'm long-winded, but you'll enjoy it here :)

Welcome, to the Spare Change Army!
